Your friends go to lots of interesting places – and so do you. Until now, there hasn’t been an easy way for groups of friends to share place recommendations, or to keep track of the spots they have already visited and where they want to go.
PlacePop’s new application on Facebook aims to solve this problem. The app leverages Facebook’s Places database to serve up personalized local recommendations based on where your friends actually go. 
As you build up a list of places you have visited, you can opt to rate each place simply as “Recommended” or “Not Recommended”, and share a short review if you like.
To use the service, you just need to install the application on Facebook – there’s no new website to sign up for, and it’s easy to invite your friends who are already using Facebook.
If you’d like to start rating places and discovering new hotspots with your friends, simply log into your Facebook account and search for “PlacePop”, or click this link to install it directly: http://apps.facebook.com/placepop

We’ve recently released an updated version of PlacePop for iPhone! If you haven’t installed the update yet, here’s what you’ve been missing:
- Comment on your friends check-ins, photos, and more!
- Update your profile photo right within the app
- Improved interface on the “people to follow” screen
- Posting to Twitter works again
This was a big update that also included lots of performance updates and bug fixes, so make sure you get the latest version!

Collect a Virtual Loyalty Card for every place you go:
PlacePop now lets you collect a virtual loyalty card at any place in the world, just by checking in there when you visit. Each check in counts as one “stamp” on your virtual card for that place. Cards get upgraded as you reach new levels of status: from Bronze, through to Silver, Gold, and eventually Platinum.
